CCWG WINE COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS HAVE CHANGED STARTING IN 2025

LOCATION: St. Stephens Catholic Church Parish Hall, 1101 Keaveny Court, Walnut Creek
ENTRY FEE: $13 per wine entered
RULES:
One bottle of wine per entry for judging
10 entries maximum per individual or team
Only CCWG members are allowed to enter
Each bottle must be labeled with the person's name, vintage, varietal of wine and, if a Blend, the Blend percentages.
No hands-on assistance from a professional winemaker or winery is allowed. Discussing winemaking with a wine professional winemaker or winery is encouraged. Purchasing grapes from a winery is acceptable as long as the winemaking process has not started. If in doubt, contact the Competion Chair, Bob Joakimson, at 925-766-8330.
ENTRY DEADLINE:
Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 6:00 pm - no exceptions
Checks are to be made out to "CCWG"
Drop-off for entries can be made to locations listed in the Janaury 2, 2025, email sent out to members by the Competition Chairman.
You must call ahead and coordinate your drop-off entries with the homeowners. Locations are North/Central County, Middle County, and West County. If you did not receive the email with the drop-off location information, contact the Competion Chair, Bob Joakimson, at 925-766-8330.
JUDGING:
UC Davis 20-point system.Head Judge will aid wine judging panels.Panel judges complete their flight then confer among themselves to determine award for each wine.
If there is no consensus score, the head judge assesses the wine and awards a score.
The Head Judge’s score shall be deemed as final.
AWARDS:
This is the first year the CCWG will award medals instead of ribbons. Your chance of earning a medal is much better than earning a ribbon as each wine is judged on its own merits and not compared to everyone else’s wine.

Best of Show Red, Best of Show White, Best of Show Dessert and Best of Show Other
Grand Champion Wine selected from the four Best of Show wines
VOLUNTEERS:
Text 925-766-8330 if you can volunteer to help during the competittion judging. Volunteers prepare wine samples, pourers serve the wine samples to the judges, others help clean, run errands or assiat as needed. Hours needed depends on the job.
POTLUCK DINNER:
Date: January 25, 2025
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: St. Stephens Catholic Church Parish Hall, 1101 Keaveny Court, Walnut Creek
Guests: Each membership family may bring up to 4 guests. Due to the size of the venue, bringing adult guests is encouraged.
Guests are expected to also bring a potluck dish.
Food: Potluck Dishes are assigned alphabetically by last name: A - I = main dish, J - S = appetizer, T - Z = main salad/side dish
Wine: Please bring a bottle of wine to share
RSVP: Please RSVP by January 18, 2025, to Lori Arango at 925-997-7995 so she knows how many people will be attending.
Reminder: Don't forget to bring your wine glasses, utensils and plates!
PRESENTATION OF WINNING WINES
Date: February 28, 2025
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Good Shepherd Luthern Church, 4000 Clayton Road, Concord
Best of Show winners are invited to pour their wines and discuss how they made them Gold medal winners are invited to submit a written description of the making of their gold medal wine or wines.
Copies of the written descriptions will be made available at the meeting for interested members
